Catherine's Annual Yuletide Service of Carols Honours Charity Helpers
Her Royal Highness has organised her customary Yuletide celebration at the historic Abbey, with attendees featuring members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have supported their local areas.
The sizable congregation will hear a blend of festive songs, musical performances, and spoken word pieces from actors such as award-winning actors.
Centred Around Kindness and Compassion
The focus of the concert, held in the candle-lit Abbey on Friday, is generosity and expressing affection towards one's neighbour.
In the audience are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose child passed away from a brain cancer, and who established a foundation, Kayleigh's Wee Stars, to aid parents with a terminally ill child.
"The dedication, empathy, and kindness you show, often quietly and unspoken, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an profound impact to the lives of others," Her Royal Highness stated in a letter ahead of the concert.
A Gradual Return
The Princess of Wales is continuing her own steady comeback to the public eye after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, recently giving her initial major address in two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "selfless, commonly overlooked efforts of carers".
Musical Talent and Access
Guests arriving at the Abbey can listen to budding artists backed by the Future Talent charity, co-founded by the former royal to increase availability of music lessons.
Carys Wood, aged 18, who is a trumpet player and is from southwest Wales, has been supported by the charity, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "amazing" to be taking part in the evening's event.
"Music can be very expensive," she stated. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "all people deserve the chance" to develop their musical skills.
Generations Gathering
Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many distinguished guests," she said.
Attending the service will be individuals spanning multiple eras.
That will include young Saphia Turner, nine, honouree of a young hero award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to generate funds for community pantries.
Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts
The Abbey has been decorated with handcrafted festive wreaths, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.
The musical lineup includes recording artist Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, Fisherman's Friends, who said the opportunity to perform was "the icing on the cake for us."
The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be aired by ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
